April.Spring Dye Colinette Jitterbug

Wool:  Colinette Jitterbug, dyed by myself for a Spring challenge on Ravelry.

I call the colour Daffodyed!

Disclaimer: I am an amateur, these are notes I made and may not be perfect!

 Cast on 45 st using chain method on 3.5mm needles. I used one 60cm circular needle.

1: k2, (p1, k3) x 10, p1, k2.

2: p2, (k1, p3) x 10, k1, p1

3: as row 1

4: Join into circle slipping last St onto left hand needle. K2tog continue pattern to EOR.

Work 2 more rnds.

7: k2,( yf, sl 3st, yb, k1) x 4, k1, p1, cont pattern to end of rnd. NB ensure carried yarn is not tight.

8: k19, p1, cont in rib as before to EOR.  From this rnd the first 19 st of each rnd will be knit.

9: as rnd 8

10: k3,  (pick up sl sts, put on left needle, knit next st through the sl sts so that the sl sts are behind the st, yf, sl3  sts,) x 3,  yb, pick up previous sl sts as before, k3, p1. Cont to EOR.

11, 12: as rnd 8

13: k2, (yf, sl 3sts, yb, pick up sl sts as in rnd 10) x 3, yf, sl 3sts, yb, k2, p1.

Rpt these 6 rnds, from rnd 8 until rnd 22.

Work 1 more rnd.

Rnd 39: patt 23st, cast off 17st knitwise, cont to EOR.

Rnds 40 – 54: continue patt.   (You may need to work a twist st or similar if there is a gap at the base of the thumb!)

Rnd 55: work as before picking up sl sts BUT do not slip new ones.

Work one rnd.

Rnd 57: k1, p1 rib all round (help prevent “curling” at cast off)

Rnd 58: Cast off knitwise, not too tightly.

Thumb gusset (Left Mitt)

Continue in pattern as set and …….

Rnd 22: patt 39st, place marker, M1R, p1, M1L, place M, cont to EOR.    (3st)

Continue as for right mitt.
