Socks Mark II

Second SocksSocks II. small

Needles: 3mm circular.

Yarn: KnitPicks Stroll, Taste of Wine

Knit Picks Stroll

Loosely backward cast on 8 sts with dental floss  or chosen thread. (!)

Knit across the 8 sts with yarn.

Toe

  1. Knit back across the 8sts then pick up and knit the underneath 8sts.
  2. (Kfb, k2, m1, k1, m1, k2, kfb, k1) x 2.
  3. (Kfb, k to last 2 sts, kfb, k1) x 2.
  4. (Kfb, k to last 2 sts, kfb, k1) x 2.
  5. Kfb, k2, [p1, sl1, p1, k4, p1, sl1, p1], k1, kfb, k1, kfb, k13 (to last 2st), kfb, k1. 36st.
  6. As rnd 3.
  7. kfb, k4, [p1, sl1, p1, k4, p1, sl1, p1], k3, kfb, k1,  kfb, k17 to last 2st, kfb, k1.
  8. As rnd 3.
  9. kfb, k6, [p1, sl1, p1, k4, p1, sl1, p1], k5, kfb, k1,   kfb, k to last 21st, kfb, k1.
  10. As rnd 3. 56st
  11. kfb, k8, [p1, sl1, p1, k4, p1, sl1, p1], k7, kfb, k1,  kfb, k to last 25st, kfb, k1.

Foot

Continue on these sts for a total of 60 rnds working the pattern on the centre 10 sts

Gusset

Rnd 1. patt 30st,  k1 m1r, knit to last st, m1l, k1

Rnd 2: Knit around.

Repeat these two rnds 11 more times until 54 sts on front needle. (24 rows all together).

Turn Heel

Now work only sole sts.

Row 1 – Right side: K17 sts, place marker, K17, kfb, k1, wrap & turn.

Row 2 (Wrong side) P17, pfb, p1, wrap & turn

Row 3 (Right side) k16, kfb, k1, wrap & turn

Row 4 (Wrong side) P15, pfb, p1, wrap & turn

Row 5 (Right side) k14, kfb, k1, wrap & turn

Row 6 (Wrong side) P13, pfb, p1, wrap & turn

Row 7 (Right side) k12, kfb, k1, wrap & turn

Row 8 (Wrong side) P11, pfb, p1, wrap & turn

Row 9 (Right side) K10, kfb, k1, wrap & turn

Row 10 (Wrong side) P9, pfb, p1, wrap & turn

Row 11 (Right side) K8, kfb, k1, wrap & turn

Row 12 (Wrong side) P7, pfb, p1, wrap & turn

Heel  Flap

Setup: Knit all the way around sock, ending at the beginning of a round marker, knitting each  wrapped stitch together with its wrap

Row 1 – Right side:  K49 (don’t forget those wrapped/shadow stitches), ssk, turn.

Row 2 – Wrong side: S1, p30, p2tog, Turn.

Row 3 – Right side: Slip 1, *k1, S1* fifteen times, SSK, turn.

Row 4 – Wrong side: Slip 1, p30, p2tog, turn. (You are purling to 1 st before the gap and then purling 2 together over the gap.)

Repeat rows 3 & 4 until sock has 1 st before gap on each side.

Work Row 3 again, but DO NOT TURN.

Work Instep around to beginning of round. You will have 32 sts on the heel side due to the stitch before the gap at the beginning of the row.

Next Round: K2tog to eliminate stitch and gap. Then knit around sock to beginning of round. K2tog at other side of heel flap.  60 st

Leg

Rnd 1. (k2, p1, sl1, p1, k5, p1, sl1, p1, k2) x 4.

Rnd 2. Knit.

Repeat until required length (16 rnds for me)

Next Rnd. (k2, p1, sl1, p1, k2, ssk, k1, p1, sl1, p1, k2, k2, p1, sl1, p1, k1, k2tog, k2, p1, sl1, p1, k2) x 2   56 st

Rib

Rnd 1. ( K1, p2, sl1, p2, k1,p1) x 8Socks II. small

Rnd 2. ( K1, p2, k1, p2, k1,p1) x 8

Repeat until required length ending with rnd 2.

Use a stretchy cast off, I used the yarn over method.
