I was all set to make Snickerdoodles
for a Bible Study group we are hosting tomorrow evening. Flour, eggs, caster sugar, cinnamon, butter, just the soft brown sugar to weigh out. Well, it was supposed to be soft, it came out of the box like a brick, rock hard. I tried to break it up, poked it with a small knife, hacked at it with it with a large knife, hit it with a sharpening steel. Not a dent!
Snickerdoodles were not meant to be, Mocha Square it is, and I got my own back on that solid block of unusable sugar. I put it in the sink and ran hot water over it and watched it drain away. A waste? Maybe, but there must have been something wrong with it.
